See previous notes for more.
upstream = negative z = -1 for layer
downstream = positive z = +1 for layer
up = positive y = +1 for end
down = negative y = -1 for end
north = beam left = positive x = +1 for end
south = beam right = negative x = -1 for end
upstream layer has horizontal counters and are labeled Y-n with n increasing in the positive y direction
downstream layer has vertical counters and are labled X-N with n increasing in the positive x direction
cables on up edge are labeled TOF-UP-n with n increasing in the negative x direction
cables on down edge are labeld TOF-DW-n with n increasing in the negative x direction
cables on the north edge are labeled TOF-N-n with n increasing in the positive y direction
cables on the south edge are lebeled TOF-S-n with n increasing in the positive y direction
Short counters are labeled X/Y-IN-nL/R where n = 5,6,7,8 and L = left when viewed looking in positive direction (x or y) from the upstream side (looking in the positive z direction)
Short counters can have a handed-ness or be symmetric. When the scintillator is laid flat on a horizontal surface, resting on the 4.5 cm wide face, with the PMT tilted up, and viewed from the non-PMT end toward the PMT end, if the end of the PMT is to the right of the centerline of the scintillator, it is a right-handed counter. If to the left, it is a left-handed counter. If on the centerline, it is symmetric.
The long, 4.5 cm wide counters come in two types, symmetric and assymetric. The assymetric counters are left-hand on one end and right-handed on the other end.
Name | Length | Width (mm) | Symmetry |
long_60 | long | 60 | symmetric |
long_45_sym | long | 45 | symmetric |
long_45_asym | long | 45 | asymmetric (one end left-handed, the other right-handed) |
long_30 | long | 30 | symmetric |
short_45_sym | short | 45 | symmetric |
short_45_left | short | 45 | left-handed |
short_45_right | short | 45 | right-handed |
